Smorgasbord

Set For Thursday

DEWITTVILLE - The Dewitville Fire Department auxiliary will host its annual smorgasbord from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the fire department building, 56459 E. Lake Road, Route 430, Dewittville. The cost is $7 for adults; $4 for children, age 6 to 12; ages 5 and under, free. Reflective house number signs, made to order, are available for $10, if picked up or $16 if mailed.

Gerry Seeks Players For Event

GERRY - The town of Gerry is seeking individuals to participate in games for the town's bicentennial celebration Aug. 11. Participants are sought for a softball/baseball game, tug of war and three-legged race. Contact the Gerry town clerk for more information at 985-4715 and sign up at the Gerry Town Hall.

North Main Street Paving To Begin

Jeffrey Lehman, director of public works for the city of Jamestown, announced that Lake Shore Paving Inc. will be paving North Main Street, from Sixth Street to Fluvanna Avenue, beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes of travel. Motorists heading northbound out of the city are encouraged to use Washington Street, to Fluvanna Avenue, to the Strunk Road entrance of I-86 to detour to Route 60.

Lake Commission To Meet Tuesday

The Chautauqua Lake Management Commission will hold a public meeting Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ashville Fire Hall to discuss the submerged aquatic vegetation management plan developed in conjunction with the county Department of Planning and Economic Development and Cedar Eden Environmental LLC of Saranac Lake. The public is invited to attend.

Saturday Tractor Pull Cancelled

PITTSFIELD, Pa. - The Warren County Fair will not be holding the farm tractor pull on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Preschool Now Taking Sign-Ups

Noah's Ark, located in the Falconer United Methodist Church, is currently enrolling children for all programs, including Before & After School, Wrap-Around and 3-year old Preschool. Preschool classes are 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, beginning Sept. 5 and will be taught by a NY/PA-certified early-childhood teacher. Summer Family Event Set

FORESTVILLE - The Forestville United Methodist Church will hold a summer family event from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, to Friday, Aug. 17. Families attending "Babylon: Daniel's Courage in Captivity" will step back in time at Babylon and explore Daniel's adventures as a captive in a foreign land. Children and adults will participate in Bible-times marketplace, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, have Bible-times snacks, visit Daniel and collect Bible memory makers.
