H. Eugene Pilling, 76, of Carpenter Pringle Road, Ashville, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2012) in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born in Warren, Pa. on Aug. 5, 1935, the son of the late Henry and Violet Strickland Pilling.
Gene was employed at Precision Tool as a machinist for more than 20 years. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Falconer Electronics. Previously he was employed at Ring Punch & Die and Jamestown Perforators.

He served with the U.S. Army as a Spc. 4 in communications from 1958 to 1960 and served in Germany. He was affiliated with Jehovah's Witnesses West Congregation and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
Gene loved wood working and specialized in making furniture. He was known as a jack of all trades and was a very giving person of his time and talents.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Persson Pilling, whom he married on Dec. 16, 1961, in the Wrightsville Community Church; a son, Robert E. Pilling, Cloverdale, Calif.; siblings, Richard (Linda) Pilling, Dennis (Barbara) Pilling and Judy Lewis, all of Youngsville, Pa., and David (Cindy) Pilling, Lander, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Pilling.
A memorial service will be held at noon Friday in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. Elder Kurt Hallberg of the Jehovah's Witnesses West Congregation will officiate.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the funeral service.
