AMVETS To Host Steak Fry Sunday

SUGAR GROVE - The Sugar Grove AMVETS will host a cook-your-own steak fry from 3 to 6 p.m. or until gone, on Sunday. The dinner includes steak, baked potato and tossed salad. The cost is $12 a person. Cooks will be available for those not wanting to cook. The event is open to the public.

Vacation Bible School Days Set

The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, corner of West Third Street and Lakin Avenue, Jamestown, will host the Rocky Point Weekend vacation Bible school from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3; 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4. The closing session will be at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, and continue as part of the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Bible school is for preschool age children through the seventh grade and is free. County Seeks Election Inspectors

Chautauqua County needs election inspectors willing to work at various polling sites during the Nov. 6 general elections. The county Board of Elections will need 600 poll workers. Inspectors must be at least 18 years of age, be registered with the Democratic or Republican parties in Chautauqua County, be able to read and speak English and be able to work between 5 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. New election inspectors will be paid $25 for training that will be available in Dunkirk, Mayville and Jamestown in August. The hourly pay for election inspectors that complete the training is $8 an hour. For more information, call the Board of Elections at 753-4580 or email vote@co.chautauqua.ny.us

Chicken Barbecue Next Saturday

STOW - The Magnolia United Methodist Church, 3969 Route 394, north of Stow, will hold a chicken barbecue from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. The meal includes chicken from 3C's Catering, macaroni or potato salad, applesauce, roll, homemade pie and beverage. Takeouts will be available. The cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children under 12. Crafts and a bake sale will also be featured. Proceeds will be used for new steps in front of the church.

Park Continues

SOUTH DAYTON - The South Dayton Music in the Park series will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the South Dayton Village Park Gazebo with music by the Judd Sunshine Duo. The summer music program is sponsored by the towns of Dayton, Villenova, Village of South Dayton and state Council of the Art Decentralization Regrant Program administered by the Cattaraugus Arts Council. Anyone attending should bring lawn chairs for seating.

Band Concert Added To Series

The Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department has added a Jamestown Municipal Band concert to the City Summer Bandshell Concert series. The Municipal Band is donating a concert that will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. In addition to funding provided annually by the city of Jamestown, concerts are sponsored by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Local 134, American Federation of Musicians; United Arts Appeal, Allen Park Women's Club, WRFA-LP, AJ Texas Hots, Fessenden, Laumer & DeAngelo; Lake County Dodge, Lind Funeral Home, Raffa and Associates LLC; Salon One and Wegmans.
