CHERRY CREEK - The classic country sounds of Maurice Brown and the Mountain Railroad will fill Cherry Creek starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when the 2012 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series, "Our Musical Heritage Across America," continues.
The concert will be held in the gazebo of the Memorial Park on Main Street, behind the Cherry Creek Town Hall. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Pine Valley VFW, Route 83, Cherry Creek.
Those planning to attend are reminded to bring their lawn chairs for seating. There will be supper type refreshments available.
Playing the Jamestown-Ellington area since the mid-1970s, The Mountain Railroad Band plays a variety of traditional country music, folk, bluegrass and gospel music. Maurice Brown is the founder and lead singer of the group. Leroy Jackson of Jamestown, plays keyboards. Pete Peterson of Steamburg plays the dobro and mandolin while Frank Jesmer of Cassadaga plays bass for the group. After many years of playing weekly at the Mountain Depot in Ellington, the group is still active, playing a various church function, nursing homes and outdoor concerts.
