Abby Adam, 11, has loved Scotty McCreery ever since the country singer's American Idol days.
On Friday, the Lakewood girl got the chance to meet McCreery before his concert at Chautauqua Institution.
According to Abby, it was a magical night.

"She was just thrilled," said Abby's mother, Amy. "When she spotted him she was jumping up and down and shouting Scotty. He was just a gentleman and signed her autograph book. She wrote I love you in the book and he responded with 'Dear Abby, I love you too.' It was a very tender moment."
Abby, who had been following McCreery's career on American Idol, became a huge fan of his. When she heard he was going to play a show at the Chautauqua Institution, she had to go.
"We watch American Idol on our girls night," said Amy. "We talk about who we like and want to vote for. Abby was a Scotty fan all along, and wanted to vote for him, even when he wasn't competing this season."
My name is Abby Adam. I am an 11 year old young lady that is a huge fan of yours. My Mom, sister and I rooted for you and voted for you during American Idol. I am such a fan that I wanted to vote for you on this season of American Idol - but Mom told me you had already won and couldn't compete again.
Besides having Down syndrome, I have experienced a number of challenges in my life. My family and friends are amazed at what strength and courage I have. At fifteen months old, I had open heart surgery to repair a life-threatening heart defect. It must have worked I have the biggest best heart ever. I share my hugs with everyone. Just last month, I got braces. I was very brave even though it was pretty scary.
I am going into fifth grade in the fall and just love going to school. Everyone tells me how proud of me they are for working so hard and doing so well.
I received a great surprise for my 11th birthday. Mom bought tickets for us to attend your concert at Chautauqua Institution on July 13th. I can't wait to see you. If it would be possible, I would love to get your autograph. I think you are amazing.
All my love,
So, Amy wrote a letter on behalf of Abby to McCreery's fan club explaining what a fan she was and that she'd like an autograph. Amy also spoke about some of the challenges Abby faces including Down syndrome and surviving open heart surgery to correct a life-threatening heart defect at 15 months old.
"I emailed the letter, and within hours they had responded back to me that they would have two passes waiting at will call," said Amy. "Abby was standing at the security rope at the stage clapping and dancing and having a ball. At one point she was standing on her chair waving her arms back and fourth. The show was fabulous."
