Rodeo City Seniors Hold Picnic

July 17, 2012
The Post-Journal

GERRY - The Rodeo City Senior Citizens held their annual summer picnic recently in the Friendship Park in Gerry.

The luncheon included grilled hot dogs and many dishes of food provided by the members. Ample amounts were available for all.

Three members were honored for their birthdays in July with a special decorated cake. Birthday congratulations were extended to members Velma Jones, Winston Bartholomew and John Sipos. Photographs of the three were taken by member Susan W. Sipos.

Following the luncheon, music was provided by Paul and Arlene Kimble from Sinclairville.

Paul Kimble said that he enjoys providing music to groups, and said that 20 years ago, he never would have thought that he would be singing and playing music for groups like he is doing.

Paul Kimble used his new Q-chord instrument to provide a wonderful musical sound for some of his songs. The Kimbles sang a medley of songs which included songs about roses, and love songs. A wonderful musical performance was enjoyed by all.

Wagon master Winston Bartholomew, who is in charge of bus tours, reminded all that for the Aug. 14 bus tour, the bus is leaving promptly at 7 a.m. and encourages all to be there by 6:45 a.m. A new one-day bus tour to Cambridge Springs, Pa. for the matinee performance of "A Riverside Christmas" is being planned for December.

President Leona Peterson thanked the Kimbles for being present for the program and thanked all for attending the picnic. The next luncheon meeting will be held in the Gerry United Methodist Church on Friday Aug. 10, promptly at noon.

All those attending are encouraged to bring a dish of food to pass and their own table settings.

New members are always welcome.
