Fire Damages Home On City View Avenue

Members of the Jamestown Fire Department responded to a fire at 42 City View Ave. in Jamestown on Monday morning.

The Jamestown Fire Department received a report of a fire on City View Avenue at 6:28 a.m. The fire, which started on the front porch, extended into the living room and the attic of the house. Crews were able to control the fire a short time after arrival, with the flames being extinguished around 6:50 a.m. The house suffered a considerable amount of damage with the fire burning out the front porch and portions of the interior as well.

Two cats lost their lives in the fire and the owner of the house was transported to WCA Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. No firefighters were injured during the blaze. The Jamestown Fire Department was not assisted by any other crews at the scene. There were nine firefighters working shift at the time of the fire and 12 additional firefighters were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
