BUFFALO - Dean M. Maynard, 51, of Mansfield, N.Y., who was convicted of manufacturing marijuana, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison and four years supervised release by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.
On Sept. 14, 2011, aerial surveillance by a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter spotted a patch of marijuana growing within a large garden plot on Maples Road in Mansfield. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration assisted in locating and eradicating 211 growing marijuana plants. During the execution of a search warrant, law enforcement officials recovered three rifles, a loaded shotgun, an undetermined amount of processed marijuana, drying marijuana plants located in each of the bedrooms, and scales used for weighing and distribution.
Brandon Maynard, Maynard's son, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 9 in connection with the same seizure.
