WESTFIELD - The Chautauqua County Vegetarian-Vegan Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the YWCA, 58 S. Portage St., Westfield.
The speaker will be author Anne Dinshah, who will discuss her new book, Dating Vegans. The book combines entertaining and informative stories of matches between people with different eating preferences, as well as dozens of recipes. The program will include a reading, discussion and a recipe from the book. Dinshah, a lifetime vegan, is a sometimes-attendee at the Chautauqua Vegetarian Society meetings when she is in residence at her property in Fredonia.
The menu for the dinner will be healthy pot luck. Those coming are invited, but not required, to bring a nutritious dish to share which will serve between eight and 12 people, as well as the recipe. The meal should be vegan, with no meat, eggs, milk, butter or other dairy products used in preparing it, and should be organic if possible. The cost is $6, or free for those bringing a dish to share. For more information or to make a reservation, call Anne at 782-4334.
All meetings are open to the public. Those attending do not need to be vegan or vegetarian to attend a meeting. Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning about healthy eating and living. The vegetarian society is an information and support group for individuals seeking to explore healthy eating through vegetarian, vegan or raw food lifestyles.
