LAKEWOOD - Representatives planning to build an Olive Garden along Fairmount Avenue near the Chautauqua Mall will address Lakewood officials later this month about the site plan for the proposed new restaurant.
On Monday, the Lakewood Village Board scheduled a public hearing to discuss the site plan and the special-use permit for the Olive Garden restaurant. The public hearing will be at 6:45 p.m. Monday, July 23.
Prior to the public hearing, Olive Garden officials are scheduled to appear at the Wednesday, July 18, Lakewood Planning Board meeting to discuss the site plan for the restaurant. N & D Restaurants Inc. of Orlando, Fla., is planning to build a 7,660 square-foot restaurant on 2.49 acres of land at 328 E. Fairmount Ave., the former location of the Firestone building in front of the Chautauqua Mall. Restaurant officials recently closed the land's purchase from Simon Properties, which owns the mall.
In June, Charles Smith, Lakewood building inspector, said Olive Garden officials have indicated ground breaking will occur in about five months, which will be this fall.
