Safe Boating Class Scheduled For July 15

MAYVILLE - The last one-day Safe Boating Class for July will be offered on July 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the Chautauqua Marina, 104 West Lake Road, Mayville.

The class is for adults and children ages 10 and up. The fee is $39 and materials are $5. Course is an 8 hour long class.

The eight-hour class meets all the requirements for the New York State Safe Boating Program.

PWC (Jet-ski) Operators ages 14 years of age and up (including adults) are required to hold a safe boating certificate when operating a Jet-ski in New York State.

In August, two classes are Aug. 3 from 5-9 p.m. and Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Also on Aug. 4, which is National Marina Day Celebration (Lake Day), a number of events are planned. They are a free youth fishing contest is at 10 a.m., a free muskie fishing seminar presented by Mike Sperry begins at 12:30 p.m., free boat-safety checks by the USCG Auxiliary and a free shortline planting demonstrations with CWC conservationist Jane Conroe.
