MAYVILLE - All Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans are especially invited to march with all other interested veterans in the annual Independence Day parade in Mayville in a headliner dedicated to their service.
The annual countywide parade's theme this year is "American Heroes" and will feature recent local veterans marching behind an American flag at the beginning of the parade line-up.
The parade will proceed down Erie Street in Mayville starting at 10 a.m. today.
All recent veterans are invited to participate with their families and in uniform, if they so choose, by registering between 8 and 9 a.m. on the day of the parade on the County Courthouse lawn on North Erie Street. Interested veterans may call the County Executive's Office at 753-4211 with any questions.
All area veterans' service organizations are being personally contacted to extend the invitation to their members. Families of recent veterans currently living out-of-town are also encouraged to reach out to their loved ones so the county may make this well-deserved opportunity available to as many veterans as possible. All Iraq or Afghanistan veterans and their families who consider a Chautauqua County community their hometown or current place of residence are welcome to march.
