Rissel, Ayers Lead Senior Tour Action

ERIE - Jim Rissel fired a plus 9 to pace Flight A as the McDonald's Senior Golf Tour paid a visit to Scenic Heights Golf Course on Monday.

Using the modified Stableford scoring system, Roger Milspaw followed Rissel with plus 8 and Art Asquith took third with plus 8 as well. Denny Ayers shot a 74 for the low gross.

In Flight B, Ed Johnson carded a plus 11 for first place and had the low gross with 79, Pat Hepinger was second with plus 9 and Randy Chamberlin had plus 8 for third place.

Bill Anderson was the Flight C winner with plus 13, Merle Elkin, Ted Bilicki and Dick Joslyn all had plus 9s with Anderson also shooting an 81 for low gross.

Lynn Butcher took first in Flight D with a plus 16, Lucien Conti was a stroke back with plus 15, Bradd Nunn placed third with plus 13. Butcher also shot an 87 for low gross honors.

In Flight E, Roger Brightman carded a plus 15 for first and had an 87 for the low gross, Herb Hern followed with plus 10 and David Nichols was third with plus 9.

Tom Mruk won Flight F with a plus 18 and shot a 91 for the low gross, Dick Ingraham was second with plus 7 and Norm Smith third with plus 6.

Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Ron Hart on No. 1, Sam Conti on No. 3, Dave Lawton on No. 14 and Chamberlin in No. 18.

The McDonald's Tour will move to Elkdale Country Club in Salamanca on Monday with a 9 a.m. start time.
