Jamestown Wins District 7 12-Under Babe Ruth Title

Jamestown won the Babe Ruth District 7 12-Under championship.

In the quarterfinals, Matt Hill, Wilmari Guzman and Jamie Rojas combined to throw a one- hitter with nine strikeouts in four innings of work in a 19-0 win over Eden.

Hill had a two-run home run, Seth Mac Tavish picked up a three-run double and Guzman and Andrew Pumford each added doubles.

In the semifinals, Hill drilled a two-run home in the bottom of the sixth to send the game to extra innings and Tavish laced a single to center to drive in the winning run as Jamestown beat Evans in 7 innings, 9-8.

Rojas also had a double and Andrew Pumford and Jon Sandstrom each had a single.

In the championship game, Jamestown pushed a run across in the top of the sixth inning and then rallied for five more runs in the seventh to beat Evans, 12-8.

Guzman hit a three-run home run over the road at La Grega Field to help Jamestown win.

Andrew Pumford picked up two doubles and Drew Simmons, Rojas, Mac Tavish and Hill chipped in with hits.
