The regional disposal and recycling company Casella Waste Systems has purchased the local business Jones Carroll Inc.
Casella, which has a local facility at 4735 W. Lake Road, Dunkirk, is a northeastern United States company which is headquartered in Rutland, Vt. Joe Fusco, Casella vice president, said Jones Carroll operations will continue to run as normal. Jones Carroll has a location at 2142 Lodestro Lane in Jamestown and a transfer site at 29 Railroad Ave., Frewsburg. Fusco said Jones Carroll employees will not be losing their jobs during the change of ownership.
''We typically, from time to time, will acquire companies in our industry,'' he said. ''They're typically smaller, mom-and-pop operations, with people that have been working their whole lives to build a good company, and now want to find another good owner for it when it is time to move on.''

Fusco said Jones Carroll did collect waste and recycling for about 1,500 customers, both commercial and residential. He said changes may occur as far as which day disposable and recyclables will be collected, but nothing else will be different.
''Other than the name on the truck, nothing will change for customers,'' he said. ''Their employees will still have a job and their customers can still expect great service.''
Jones-Carroll was a family-owned and operated business offering services in New York and Pennsylvania. The company started in 1990.
