Ronald J. Keddie

Ronald J. Keddie, 64, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, unex-pectedly.

He was born in Silver Creek, Sept. 16, 1947, son of the late Robert and Esther (Bartlett) Keddie.

A veteran of Vietnam serving with the U.S. Navy from 1967-70 and received the National Defense Ser-vice Medal.

Ron was an employee of Robert Basil Chevrolet, a NYS fire instructor for over 30 years, and worked at Children's Safety Village, a retired employee of American Axle/General, past em-ployee of the railroad, IPSCO Well Drilling, Cobb Ambulance.

His memberships include Sheridan Methodist Church, 51-year member of Sheridan Fire Department, where he served as chief for two terms, past president, and three terms as fire com-missioner, Silver Creek Em-ergency Squad, Sheridan VFW Post 6390, Fourth Ward Falcon Club, First Ward Falcon Club, Kosciuszko Club, Moniuszko Club, Dom Polski Club, Dunkirk Fireman's Exempt Club, Fredonia American Legion Post 59, Fredonia Beaver Club, Montour Falls Moose Club, Silver Creek Fireman's Club, and past member of Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, Dunkirk Moose Club and was the past Bingo Caller at the Fredonia American Legion and St. Columban's on the Lake.

Ron enjoyed his grandchildren, fire service, training firefighters, fire prevention with children, a Buffalo Sabres fan, working in his yard, bottled Miller Lite and a morning Tim Hortons double-double.

Surviving is his wife Kathleen A. (Feinen) Ked-die of Sheridan, daughters Jennifer Tiede of Jackson, Tenn, Melissa (Derek Grif-fith) Keddie of Sheridan, son Michael (Penny Patton) Keddie of Sheridan, grandchildren Allison, and Cory Tiede, Kelsie Kuchar-ski, Kaylynn Keddie. Brother of Donald Keddie of Fredonia, Ellen (John) Cornell of Fredonia, Daniel (Rosanne) Keddie of Char-lotte, N.C., along with many nieces, nephews and life long friends also sur-vive.

Preceded in addition to his parents is his son Todd Keddie.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. in Dunkirk on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A fireman's service and mili-tary service will be held Tuesday morning, July 3 at 11:30 in Sheridan Fire Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sheridan Fire Department, 2800 Route 20, Sheridan, NY 14135.
