Janice Johnson Fera, 61, of 35 Case, Lakewood, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in WCA Hospital.
In the days before her death, Jan's hospital room was filled with laughter and the celebration of her life with those who surrounded her. Janice was that rare individual who radiated genuine interest, kindness, and concern for the indivi-duals with whom she came in contact. This quality drew others to her and was reflected by the number of individuals who arrived to sit with her and called her daily during her illness. Janice spent her last days surrounded by the family and friends she loved. She will be missed.
She was born Jan. 16, 1951, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Phillip Johnson and Virginia Carl-son Johnson Atkins and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Johnson and Mrs. Loletta Carlson.

Following her gradua-tion from Southwestern Central School in 1969, Jan enrolled in Ithaca College and earned her bachelor's degree in physical therapy in 1973.
Jan enjoyed her career as a physical therapist, and found great satisfaction in helping her patients return to mobility and health. Her long career as a physical therapist began at Robert Brigham Hospital, Boston, Mass., followed by San Diego Orthopedics, Orthopedic Consultants, Encino, Calif., and lastly Chautauqua Physical Therapy, Jamestown. She was a former member of American Physical Thera-pists Association.
Jan enjoyed camping, hiking and travelling to see family or friends. She par-ticularly enjoyed the many gatherings the family held each year.
Surviving are two sons: Nicholas Fera and Michael Fera. both of Los Angeles, Calif.; aunts: Helen J. Swanson of Lakewood, Kay Crossley of Jamestown, and June Carlson of Bushnell, Fla.; uncle: James (Barbara) Johnson of Jamestown; cousin. Carol (Mark) Hassenberg of Red Bank, N.J.; three brothers: Steven (Anne) Johnson of Lafay-ette, La, David Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Michael (Evelyn) Johnson of Lantana, Fla.; a sister, Mara (Brad) Johnson of Sherman; nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Ryan, Andrew, Jesse and Michelle Johnson, Tiffany Green and Brandon Winston; cousins: Jerry (Julie) Stanton, Tom (Nancy) Stanton, John (Liz) Crossley, David (Janet) Crossley, Lori (Leo) Jones, Bonnie (Paul) Quesenberry, Danny Johnson, Dawn (Steve) Carutis, Cynthia (David) Zeuch, Jennifer Johnson, Bev (Jerry) Daniels, Doug (Linda) Carl-son.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Hedin will of-ficiate. Interment of ashes will be at Sunset Cemetery, at a later date.
Visitation will not be ob-served.
The family wishes to ex-tend their appreciation to WCA staff for the con-sistently high quality of care given Jan during her illness. The family wishes to express their sincere gra-titude to Jan's many friends for sharing this last journey with such grace, love and courage.
