Don’t Miss Cody Hiller This Friday

June 27, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

What a joy and privilege it was to be in the audience at the Evening of Classical Music, featuring Cody Hiller, violinist, accompanied by Ron McEntire, pianist. Cody performed the Sonata in G Minor "Devil's Trill" by Guiseppe Tartini (1692-1770); Legenda, Opus 17 by Henryk Wieniawski (1835-1880); and Concerto No. 5 in A minor, Opus 27 by Henri Vieuxtemps (1820-1881).

All I could think of is how appreciative and indebted to Cody these three composers of long ago would be to have this remarkable young musician bring their music to life so perfectly. Cody's trills were breathtaking to hear and to watch. There were moments throughout the performance when only Cody was playing; his solo tones filling the Christ Methodist Church to the pure delight of those present at this free concert.

Last Friday was graduation night for many area high schools, so if you missed hearing Cody Hiller last week, you have another opportunity this Friday, June 29, at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 109 W, Third Ave. in Warren, Pa.

This will also be a free concert, but donations are always welcome.

My husband and I, along with many others, sincerely believe that Cody is on his way to Carnegie Hall. If you love violin and piano music, you owe it to yourself to hear Cody and Ron on Friday. They will be performing the same musical program as last week. Come and listen. Enjoy!!

With sincere musical appreciation,

Joyce and Frank Mallare
