Edmund R. Wendt, age 92, of Sanborn, died Saturday June 23, 2012, in Mt St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Ed was born December 12, 1919, in Sanborn, N.Y., the son of the late Edward and Lena (Strassburg) Wendt and was a lifelong resident. He married Jane M. McCollum on October 2, 1948. Jane predeceased him on April 10th of this year. Ed was a self employed mechanic. He had worked as an operating engineer on the Power Project and as a bus mechanic for Niagara Wheatfield Schools.
He had attended the Ransomville United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed building and collecting model toys, NASCAR and attending steam engine shows. He also has a collection of antique cars and tractors.

He is survived by his children, Paul (Robin) Wendt of Lockport, Dan (Shelley) Wendt of Jamestown, N.Y., and Marleen (Conrad) Janik of Lockport; his grandchildren, Cori Flores, Raymond and Andrew Wendt, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Gruber, Edward Wendt, Conrad Jr. and Christopher Janik, and Liza Reinhardt; and three great grandchildren: Joseph Flores, Emily Wendt and Amanda Clarkson.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Norman Wendt.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, on Tuesday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Ransomville United Methodist Church, 2573 Youngstown Lockport Road, Ransomville. Funeral services will begin in the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Pekin, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville United Methodist Church, PO Box 250, Ransomville, NY 14131.
