Ham Radio Day Begins Saturday

The Chautauqua Amateur Radio Service will host Ham Radio day from noon Saturday through noon Sunday in Erlandson Park in Frewsburg. The group will have food available throughout the event. The day takes place in conjunction with Ham radio operators nationwide. Operators take radios, antennas and other equipment to a site not ordinarily used for communication activities and attempt to contact as many other such sites as possible in a weekend. Field days test and familiarize Ham radio operators with the intricacies of setting up and maintaining communications away from their usual stations so as to prepare for the possibility of needing to do so in an disaster situation. The Catt. Co. ARES team and Pioneer Radio Operators Society, (PROS) will also be conducting a combined Emergency Radio Test from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday. This radio test will be held at the Summit area of Allegany State Park. The general public is invited as well.

Bible School Program To Start

Lighthouse Baptist Church, 381 Camp St., Jamestown, is having daily vacation Bible school from Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The theme is "Bug Zone - Transformed by Our Great God." There will be Bible and mission stories, games, prizes, treats, puppets and skits. The classes are from age 2 through sixth grade. For more information, call 664-2645.

Sinclairville Library Board To Meet

SINCLAIRVILLE - The Sinclairville Free Library trustees board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. The public is welcome to attend.

Biker Beach Bash Set For Saturday

HANOVER - The Sunset Bay Biker Beach Bash is Saturday from 2 to 10 p.m. The event will benefit the children of Stephen Kachelmeyer and feature live music by Oliverio & Sidetrakd.

Anniversary Event Set In Sugar Grove

The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department will host its 80th Anniversary Carnival on Saturday. Registration for the mechanical bull riding competition will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants must be at least 16 years old to enter and the cost is $10 for entry. Prizes will be awarded to the longest ride for a male and a female with prizes starting at $100. Non-competition riding will be available for $5 per ride after the competition until 11 p.m. For more information, call Amanda at 814-730-3490.

Westside Women To Meet Today

The Westside Women's Club picnic and meeting will be at noon today in Comfort Today, hosted by Carolyn Barber and Shirley Edgren. A musical program will be presented by the Golden Gems, a singing group from Tanglewood Manor. Jeffrey Lubi, Jamestown Humane Society executive director, spoke on the purpose and mission of the organization at a recent meeting attended by 15 members.

JPS Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road. The public is invited to attend.
