MAYVILLE - The County Legislature may be welcoming back a familiar face in its clerk's office.
Katherine Tampio, of Silver Creek, was unanimously approved as legislature clerk during an Administration Services Committee meeting Monday.
Tampio, if approved next week during the legislature's full-body meeting, would replace outgoing clerk Janet Jankowski - effective July 1 at an annual salary of $17,640 for 49 percent time. Tampio, who would serve through Dec. 31, 2012, served as clerk of the legislature last year.
"I'd just like to say that Ms. Jankowski has done a wonderful job and Ms. Tampio also did a great job when she was here so I would strongly be in favor of voting for this," said Mark Tarbrake, R-Ellicott.
Committee Chairman Larry Barmore, R-Gerry, also thanked Jankowski for her time as legislature clerk for the last six months, and welcomed the opportunity to work again with Tampio.
Also approved in committee Monday:
A resolution reappointing county Election Commissioners Brian Abram (Republican) and Norm Green (Democrat). If approved next week by county lawmakers, both commissioners would serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2013.
"I would just like to say Mr. Abram has done a wonderful job," Tarbrake said. "He's been a leader throughout the state as far as the new age of technology that this state has been undertaking. And he is well-recognized."
Minority Leader Lori Cornell, D-Jamestown, thanked Green for his long-standing service in the county Board of Elections. Green has work as Democratic election commissioner for 13 years.
Both commissioners received unanimous support from their respected county Democrat and Republican committees.
A resolution allowing the county to contract with DFT Communications for Internet access as a "backup, failover and load-balanced Internet connection."
The county Department of Information Services requested bids for the service and DFT came in as the lone bidder. If approved, DFT would provide the Internet access at no cost as long as the county allows use of its Ellery communication tower to the company.
A resolution to confirm the appointment of Wally Huckno Sr. to the Jamestown Community College Region's Board of Trustees. If approved by the legislature next week, Huckno - a Jamestown resident - would serve on the board through June 2018.
A resolution to adopt a county investment policy prior to County Executive Greg Edwards' preparation of the tentative 2013 budget.
According to Susan Marsh, county finance director, the legislature must approve an investment policy on an annual basis. No changes to the policy from last year are being sought.
