To the Readers' Forum:
I just returned home from an annoying trip down Fairmount Avenue.
Why is it that the state Highway Department can manage to work on Route 394 in West Ellicott and Lakewood, tearing up what appears to be perfectly good driveways and replacing them, yet Interstate 86 from Steamburg to the Limestone Exit goes unnoticed?
That section of the interstate is in a totally dangerous and unsafe condition for cars, buses, trucks and especially motorcycles. The section that washed out last year appears to be sinking again.
I've read about the dispute between New York State and the Seneca Nation. Since that article was in The Post-Journal we haven't heard a word. The condition of the road has a direct impact on tourism and the Casino. The state and the Seneca Nation need to sit down and get the dispute resolved now.
