The Harmony Senior Citizens will hold a chicken barbecue on Thursday, July 5, at 5 p.m. in the Panama United Methodist Church. All those planning to attend must have signed the reservation list at the June meeting or should call Lester Wevers before June 27. The cost is $7 per person. The chicken will be catered, so an accurate count of those planning to attend is necessary.
Recently the seniors met for the June meeting. Pauline Edsall welcomed those in attendance, read "A Song of Our Flag" and gave the dinner prayer.
Birthdays were celebrated by Joyce Ecker, Dottie Enlow, June Federko, Desmond Harper, Sandy Hoyt, Peachy James, Larry Ostrander, Ruth Ostrander, Judy Prechtl, Barb Thorpe, and Shirley Carlson and June Walter, who shared eldest in attendance. Janet and Ron Kelly, Beverly and Tom Smith, and Evelyn and Bill Sweeney celebrated their anniversaries.
Following dinner, president Rosalie Logue conducted the business meeting. She thanked Sally Hagg and the food committee for preparing and serving the evening's chicken and biscuit dinner. Guests for the evening Barb Johnson, Dave Lundgren, David Phelps and Marge Roy were welcomed.
Sandy Hoyt and Lois King volunteered to serve on the nomination committee for the 2013 officers. Dottie Enlow announced space available for the trip on July 24 to the Warther Carving Museum in Dover, Ohio. Payment of $62 should be paid no later than July 5 meeting. Following the business meeting, Boy Scouts from Troop 141 performed a flag ceremony in honor of Flag Day.
