Falconer Central Worthy Of Praise

June 17, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

At a time when our local schools are facing public scrutiny to a degree that forces even the most ardent supporters of public education to raise questions, there is, in our county, a school district that deserves praise that too often goes unspoken.

Falconer Central School is a treasure within Chautauqua County. Behind its brick walls, day in and day out, year in and year out, toil a group of professionals who not only demand academic excellence from their students but support and guide our children, preparing them to work and serve in a 21st-century world.

As our youngest graduates from FCS, we want to take this opportunity to give public thanks to the Falconer Central school board, administration, office staff, teaching and counseling staff, health professionals and building maintenance crew for your professionalism and respect for each child and family that walks through our school doors.

There is so much more to educating our children for life than test scores and rankings. At FCS, young people's gifts are developed, weaknesses strengthened and mistakes corrected with understanding and without judgment. If we could in some way measure the true effectiveness of educating and preparing our children for success, if we could measure the heart and soul of a school and its passion for young people, Falconer Central would be ranked at the top. Falcon pride is real.

Thank you, FCS.
