The Chautauqua County American Legion is sponsoring a day trip to a D-Day reenactment in Conneaut, Ohio. Attendees will be leaving the John W. Dill American Legion Post 434, 110 W. Main St., Brocton at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, and returning at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Transportation will be on a 56-passenger bus with air conditioning and a restroom. There will be no alcohol allowed on the bus. Assistance will be provided for whomever may need it. A light meal will be served upon returning and ample time provided for everyone to reminisce of the experiences.
The re-enactment consists of the La Fiere Bridge Battle at 11 a.m. and a beach landing at 3 p.m. with an attack on a German bunker on the beach with nearly 700 re-enactors. World War II veterans will get preferred seating at the reenactment. Please go to www.ddayohio.us for more information.
