Jamestown police are searching for the person responsible for breaking into several southside homes while their occupants were sleeping Thursday morning.
According to police, several homes were entered between 2 and 4 a.m. and several others were attempted to be entered in the Whitehill Avenue and Cole Avenue area. No items were actually removed from any of the locations during the incidents.
The burglar is described as being a white man, possibly in his 30s or early 40s, around 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a medium build and longer, collar length dark hair described as being slicked back. Officers at the scene did find a silver colored BMX bike that is believed to have been used by the man to enter the area.
"These were very brazen acts," said Capt. Bob Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department. "He did this while people were in the home, sleeping. We're very interested in any information that anyone may have about this suspect."
The investigation is continuing and investigators are asking anyone who may have information on any of these crimes to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7531 or to leave an anonymous tip by calling 483-8477 or visiting the JPD Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jamestownpolicedepartment and clicking the TIPS link.
