The "best of the best" red sauces are simmering on stoves across the county in preparation for the First Great Jamestown Sauce-Off that will take place on June 24 at the Winter Garden Plaza in Jamestown from noon to 4 p.m.
This family affair is being presented by Jamestown NOW and the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation. Attendees will be able to taste and vote on regional recipes from community members and restaurants that have mastered the exquisite balance of flavor loved by residents in Western New York.
The first prize will be determined by a panel of judges, including local food enthusiasts Peachy Sampson, chef Todd Singleton, Mary McCusker, Ed Dynus and a local student judge. Judges will sample all entries and vote for their favorite.
The second prize will be a fan favorite award. Patrons of the event will cast their votes throughout the day for their favorite recipe.
