The Jamestown Jammers are about to kick off their 19th New York-Penn League season with opening day on Monday at Diethrick Park.
The Jammers open the season against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at 7:05 p.m. and the gates open at 6 p.m.
The Jamestown is in its 11th season as a Miami Marlins affiliate. While the Marlins underwent significant changes this offseason with a new name, logo, ballpark, and players, not much has changed with the Jammers. Probably the biggest change this season is a new manager - Angel Espada.
Last season, Espada served as the hitting coach for the Jammers, who finished with a 35-40 record to finish 10 games behind the Pinckney Division champion Auburn Doubledays.
Opening day will feature a postgame fireworks show sponsored by Superior Bat Company.
The Jammers are scheduled to arrive at Diethrick Park today at 4 p.m. On Friday afternoon, equipment will be issued followed by a workout.
There will also be workouts on Saturday at 6 p.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m.
