The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities announces that online account access and bill payment of BPU accounts are now available to BPU customers.
Customers may register for online access to their accounts by logging in at or by clicking the "Access BPU Account" link under "Quick Links" on the BPU website homepage at www.jamestownbpu.com and following the directions.
All online users will need their BPU customer number(s) to register. The customer number includes the six digits, beginning with the No. 1, that appears after the dash of the account number on the printed bill.
Once registered, a customer may access account information such as meter readings, consumption history and past bills and also will have the ability to make payments on-line utilizing a credit or debit card. The availability to pay with a check is coming soon.
According to BPU General Manager David L. Leathers, online account access and bill payment are services that specifically have been requested by customers.
"The BPU is pleased to offer these long-awaited services to our customers," says Leathers. "This new offering results from the BPU's overall computer software systems upgrade. We look forward to the coming weeks, when online payments by check also will be possible."
"I encourage all of our customers to utilize this new account access and bill payment option," continues Leathers. "We are definitely interested in customer feedback which will be used to enhance and improve this process for everyone."
