Ronald G. Hepler

Ronald G. Hepler, 65, formerly of Jamestown, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

He was born Dec. 21, 1946, in Corry, Pa., a son of the late Glenn and Florence Walters Hepler.

He was a 1965 graduate of Corry Area High School.

Prior to falling ill in 1979, Ron had worked as a self-employed contractor in partnership with the late Frank Spencer. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 600 and was a certified welder. He also enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing and traveling - even later in life when he was known for daily riding his electric wheelchair down Route 60 to get coffee.

He was a founding member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.

Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Samuelson, whom he married Oct. 21, 1967; three children: Trevor (Carla) Hepler of Stanardsville, Va., Tara (Richard) Chase of Ashville and Matthew Hepler of Charlottesville, Va.; two grandchildren: Devyn and Zander Chase of Ashville; three brothers: Gerald Hepler of Corry, Pa., Willi-am (Judy) Hepler of Homosassa Springs, Fla., and Russell (Jeannie) Hepler of St. Cloud, Fla.; and a sister, Patricia (William) Proper of Waterford, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Special thanks to Dr. Satish K. Mongia for his dedicated care over the last 33 years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Heritage Green for smiling at his endless jokes.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald V. Erickson will officiate. Chaplain Gerald Haglund will assist.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 381 Camp St., Jamestown, NY 14701 or Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
