DELHI - Eighth-grader Marissa DeMonaco of Southwestern carded a 45-48-93 for 46th place in the first round of the New York State High School Federation Girls Golf Championships at The College Golf Course at Delhi on Saturday.
Another eighth-grader, Marina Kessler of Fredonia ,shot a 56-51-107 for 65th place.
Section 6 stands fifth among eight teams with 622 strokes while the top team is Section 5 with 547 strokes.
Cat Peters of Clarence, a senior headed for the University of Michigan on a scholarship, is tied for fourth with a 2-over-par 75.
The top two scores are both from Mercy of Section 5. Christine Schmitt fired an even-par 72 and teammate Danielle Fuss a 73.
The final round is at 8:30 a.m. today with a shotgun start.
