Sayers First In Javelin At Empire State Senior Games

CORTLAND - Lakewood resident Michael Sayers had a very successful day at the Empire State Senior Games on Friday.

Competing in the 55-59 age group, Sayers finished in first place in the javelin throw with a toss of 159 feet,11 inches. He also took third place in the discus with a throw of 113-10 and was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 33-10 inches.

Several other Chautauqua County senior athletes will be competing in the running events, which will be held today, beginning at 9 a.m.
