Joyce E. Knowlton, 85, formerly of Frewsburg and Gerry, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday (June 6, 2012), in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facili-ty.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 20, 1926, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Clarence and Maude Backus LaDow.
Prior to retirement in 1985, Joyce worked as a cook for the Cassadaga Valley Central School dis-trict for 25 years. She was a lifemember of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary.

Surviving are three daughters: Nancy Miller (Kenny) of St. Cloud, Fla., Judy Cardone (Jim) of Wewahitchka, Fla., and Kathy (late Daniel) Robin-son of Frewsburg; a son, re-tired Master Sgt. U.S. Army Dennis (Becky) Knowlton of Kempner, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Francis Bastedo of Ham-burg, N.Y.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Knowlton, whom she mar-ried Jan. 7, 1945, and who died Feb. 25, 2006; and a brother, Earl LaDow.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Falcon-er.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sa-turday in the funeral home.
