Defending Champs Lead Italian-American

ELLICOTTVILLE - Carl Pillitierri and Dave Bogdan are picking up where they left off at last year's Italian-American Charity Golf Tournament.

They were the overall champions at the 2011 I-A and after Thursday's opening round of the 2012 edition, they are the overall leaders again with net best-ball 62, 10 under par at Holiday Valley Resort.

Tied for second with 64s are Sam Peppy and Charlie Moss, and John Sirianno and Chris Elliott.

Tied for fourth place with 65s are Phil DeMarco and Jim Henderson, James Panebianco and Louis Horschel, Ray Fashano and Marty Stockwell, Morrie Paterniti and Scott Smith, and Sam LaMancuso and Matt Hartweg.

All those teams are in the First Flight. There are a total of seven flights with 12 teams in each.

The second round will be today and the final round on Saturday.

The overall winner and runner-up can come out of any flight.
