Zoning Board To Meet Wednesday

The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of the Jamestown Municipal Building, 200 E. Third St. The board will discuss a petition to use a property at 63 W. 23rd St., Jamestown, as a bottle and can redemption center. While the proposed use as a redemption center is a permitted use, the primary orientation of such a business needs to be on a main street or highway. The public is welcome to attend.

Farmer's Market Begins Today

LAKEWOOD - The Lakewood Farmer's Market starts today and will continue through the month of August. The farmer's market will be held along Chautauqua Avenue each Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m.

North Harmony To Host Rabies Clinic

North Harmony will host a free rabies clinic sponsored by the county Health Department and town of North Harmony from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ashville Fire Station, 5338 Stow Road. All pets will be required to be on a leash or in a cage, and owners are encouraged to bring rabies vaccination records for each animal that will be receiving a shot. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older.

New Items At St. Luke's Thrift Shop

St. Luke's Thrift Shop at 409 Pine St., Jamestown, has many new items including bedding, household items and clothing as well as new markdowns. Thrift Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Receiving is 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday or whenever the shop is open. Offstreet parking is available in the church parking lot off of Fifth Street just past Main Street. The shop is staffed by volunteers including RSVP workers. All proceeds are allocated to local community outreach programs.

Herring Breakfast Set For Sunday

BEMUS POINT - The Thule Lodge, 4123 Pancake Hill Road, Bemus Point, will hold its annual Father's Day Herring Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the lodge. For those attending the breakfast, reservations are needed for the herring and may be made by calling Edwin Sandberg at 664-6702. There is an alternative breakfast of ham and eggs, for which reservations are not needed. The herring breakfast is a part of the Swedish traditions. The breakfast is open to the public. The Thule Lodge serves to preserve the Swedish culture through events and activities and has been in the Jamestown/Bemus Point area for 105 years. New members are welcome.

Red Cross To Host Blood Drives

The American Red Cross will host several blood drives in the area throughout June. They are: noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Chautauqua Inn and Suites, Mayville; 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Portland Fire Department; noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Celoron American Legion; noon to 6 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Church; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the Eastside Family YMCA; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Harley Davison of Jamestown.
