Sylvia M. Holmquist, 76, of Gerry Levant Road, Fal-coner, passed away Tuesday (June 4, 2012), in her son's home.
A lifelong area resident, she was born May 12, 1936, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Karl I. and Viola A. Erickson Nel-son.
Sylvia was a 1953 graduate of Frewsburg High School, and in earlier years, was employed by Hopes Windows.
She was a member of the Ross Mills Church of God, Ross Grange, Falconer Senior Citizens Bowling League, and had volun-teered at Lutheran Social Services. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, bowling, cooking and her cat, "Babe."
Surviving is her husband Emory B. Holmquist, whom she married June 27, 1960 in Ross Mills, her son, Jay (Kelly) Holmquist of Gerry; a daughter, DeMares (Fred) Rosenow of Stockton; four grandchildren: Sherry Holmquist, Amber (Jesse Sr.) Szablewski, Brittany Rosenow, Andrew Holm-quist; three great grandchil-dren: Jesse Jr., Xanbrina and Skyler Szablewski; her sister, Charlene (John) Nash of Frewsburg; and two nephews: Jeff (Sandy) Nash and John (Mary) Nash.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joy Holmquist.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. David Olson, pastor of Ross Mills Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Ross Mills Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
