Kathryn E. Arters, of Webster Road, Fredonia, N.Y., died Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, N.Y.
She was 90 years of age, born in the Baptist Church Parsonage in Angelica, N.Y., the daughter of the late Rev. Alfred E. and Etta (Farr) Lawton. She was a graduate of Geneseo State University and taught elementary school in Angelica, N.Y.. She also drove school bus for special education children. She attended the North East (Pa.) Assembly of God Church, the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church and the Fredonia Assembly God Church, both of Fredonia. She has been a resident of the area for the past 60 years.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Stewart E. Arters, who she married on August 21, 1943, her children: Doug (Alba) Arters of Gerry, N.Y., Beverly Spayde of Rochester, N.Y., Cheryl (Cleatis) Jeffcoat of Witchita Falls, Texas, Steven Arters of Fredonia, N.Y., Karen (Peter) Gennuso of Athens, Ga., David Arters and Susan Kay Arters, both of Fredonia, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well numerous extended family members.

In addition, she was pre-deceased by two brothers: Charles Lawton and John Paul Lawton, and two sisters: Marjorie Ayers and Marian Farrington.
Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton, N.Y., on Friday, June 8, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church, 252 E. Main St., Westfield, New York on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gerald Olshevski and the Rev. Larry Morrison will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
