LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

LAKEWOOD - Karen M. Danson, 25, of Jamestown and Ashely A. Goodwin, 25, of Kennedy were charged with petit larceny after an alleged shoplifting incident at Wal-Mart in Lakewood on Saturday. Police responded to a call of two females shoplifting at 2:48 p.m. When officers arrived, loss-prevention personnel already had Danson detained. Officers then found Goodwin in a vehicle in the parking lot with stolen merchandise. Goodwin was additionally charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Both are due in Town of Busti Court at a later date.

BUSTI - Blake T. Truver, 19, of Newland Avenue, Jamestown, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding following a traffic stop on Kortwright Road in the town of Busti at 8:41 p.m. Friday. Lakewood-Busti Police pulled over a vehicle for speeding and Truver was determined to be the operator. He was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

Richard C. Becker, 39, of Frewsburg was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated and operating with a suspended registration after a traffic stop on East Second Street at 2:07 a.m. Saturday. Sheriff's patrol stopped a vehicle for having a suspended registration. Following an investigation, it was determined that Becker was driving while intoxicated and that his license is revoked for a previous DWI. He refused a chemical test and was turned over to the Jamestown Police Department on an unrelated warrant.

MAYVILLE - Joshua P. Roach, 19, of 5772 Ellicott Road, Brocton, was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and second-degree obstructing governmental administration at 9:10 p.m. Friday in the Chautauqua County Jail. While incarcerated, Roach was discovered to have three Gabapentin pills concealed in a bandage on his arm. During the search it is alleged that Roach resisted officers in an attempt to prevent them from discovering the contraband. Officers report that Roach said he would "swing on the officers," and that he also physically resisted them and had to be restrained. Roach will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court on a later date.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Daniel K. Fluent, 25, of Kennedy was charged with moving from lane unsafely, driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood-alcohol contest of .08 percent or more after a traffic stop at 12:41 a.m. Saturday. A vehicle was observed stopped at a traffic light on Tiffany Avenue on Allen Street. The vehicle then drove over the curb as it turned right onto Allen Street. After the vehicle was stopped, Fluent was determined to be the operator and found to be intoxicated. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail and will be arraigned at a later date.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

William L. Vanvolkenburg, 64, of 7244 E. Main St., Westfield, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday. Westfield Police officers observed a male subject passed out behind the steering wheel of his truck in a local business' parking lot. The vehicle was still running and in gear up against a curb. The curb was stopping the vehicle from rolling onto East Main Street and possibly into traffic. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Vanvolkenburg, the driver, was impaired by drugs. He will appear in the Village of Westfield Court at a later date.

Jessica M. Rumsey, 34, of Union Street, Westfield, was charged with driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to keep right and failure to maintain lane after a traffic stop at 12:03 a.m. Tuesday. Westfield Police officers observed a vehicle northbound on North Portage Street in the village. Officers observed the vehicle cross the fog line and center line multiple times. After a traffic stop, it was determined that Rumsey, the driver, was intoxicated. A check of her driver's license showed that her privileges had been suspended. Rumsey will appear in Village of Westfield Court at a later date.

William D. Sloppy, 27, of Stearns Avenue, Jamestown, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane, unlicensed driver and second-degree unlicensed driver at 2:57 a.m. Tuesday. Westfield Police officers observed a southbound vehicle on South Portage Street in the village. The vehicle was observed crossing the center line and fog line multiple times. After a traffic stop, it was determined that Sloppy, the driver, was intoxicated. A check of his driver's license showed that his privileges were suspended. Sloppy was taken into custody and arraigned in Village of Westfield Court. Bail was set at $500 cash/$2,500 property bond and he was taken to Chautauqua County Jail. He will appear in Westfield Village Court at a later date.

PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE

SHEFFIELD - Chad A. Rumsey, 31, of Ludlow, Pa., was cited for speeding following an accident on state Route 666 at 9:55 p.m. Friday. Rumsey was driving ihs 2001 Saturn south on state Route 666 and failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, crossing over into the oncoming lane and onto a berm, traveling 33 feet before impacting a guard rail. A passenger in Rumsey's car was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

SALAMANCA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Jan T. Rzucek, 63, of Salamanca was charged with second-degree criminal sale of marijuana, growing cannabis by unlicensed persons and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child at 5:25 p.m. Thursday. It is alleged that Rzucek was growing 14 medium- to large-sized marijuana plants in his basement while supervising two 6-year-olds and while being under the influence of alcohol. He was arraigned in Salamanca City Court and sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
