The Illusion Of Choice

June 3, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

This letter is in response to the May 23 letter "Save America This November." First of all, I would like to thank the writer for taking the time to write the letter and also state I feel his intentions are good. He is correct the nation and even more accurately, humanity is in a terrible state. This is blatantly obvious, we all see it. Some choose to completely ignore it, others rationalize it to themselves, but on a deeper level I know that we all see it. I know this because I see it and am but a piece of this greater organism - humanity.

It may appear from our perspective "Congress is long out of control." The reality is much closer to Congress being under perfect and total control just as they always have been. We live in a world where the many allow the few to control them. These people are setting up their children and grandchildren to be well taken care of in regard to money and power. The bloodlines and boys' clubs will continue to strive for the better for their exclusive members and their corporations. The next piece of the letter is what really prompted my response.

"With a 13 percent approval rating for our so-called Congress, ignorant voters continue to vote them back into office at an astounding rate of 88-95 percent for the Senate and the House respectively. Somebody's been watching way too much TV! (Helpful hint: the rubbish on TV is not reality)"

I have taken zero steps to verify these numbers. If they are not completely accurate I would suspect they are very close. These numbers point to ignorance of the people on a much grander scale than you suggest. Do you think the people approve at a 13 percent rate but re-elect at an 88 percent rate? Does that make even the smallest bit of sense? The unfortunate truth is that these people are not elected, they are selected! We have electronic voting machines which nobody is allowed to verify the integrity of. We have obvious cases of fraud like Florida in 2000, we have a manufactured left versus right paradigm.

It would be bad enough if the political movie being played out was the truth. Two parties? Really? Two parties to completely encapsulate the ideas of over 300 million people?! Sadly, what we have is even worse - the illusion of choice.

Save America. Save the world! Do it now! Realize the great deception being perpetrated on humanity.
