Joan and Tom Kuersten of Des Plaines, Ill. announce the engagement of their daughter, Marta Marie, to Nathan Edward Wolaver, the son of Marna Terry Wolaver of Sinclairville, N.Y., and Carl Wolaver of Dayton, Ohio.
Miss Kuersten is a 2001 graduate of Maine West High School and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language and literature from New York University in 2005. She is employed in multimedia publishing at MLB.com in New York, and is an executive producer with Cake Productions, a theater company she co-founded in 2009.
Her fiance is a graduate of the Waldorf School in Garden City, N.Y., and earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., in 1995. He is employed as an account sales executive with Asset Control, a financial services software company in New York.
