The American Legion Herman Kent Post 777 recently awarded its annual awards.
William L. Ohnmeiss, Ellicott Police chief, was named the policeman of the year.
Aaron C. Kier of Celoron Hose Company No. 1 was named the fireman of the year.
They will be considered for the county awards and may advance to the state level.
