Sara A. Wicks Arnold

Sara A. Wicks Arnold, 88, of Falconer, passed away Tuesday (May 29, 2012), at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Jamestown.

She was born in April 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Selah and Sara Pulling Wicks.

Sara was a graduate of Randolph High School. In earlier years, she was employed by Inkley's Drug Store in Randolph, and McKallor Drug Company in Jamestown. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Heritage Village Nursing Facility in Gerry.

Sara was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Falconer, where she was the missions treasure and a member of the Rosalie Neathery Circle.

She enjoyed bowling, traveling, reading, and loved her dog, Peggy. Sara especially enjoyed eating at her favorite restaurant The Cow in Ellery Center, where she loved the staff and friendly atmosphere.

Sara is survived by her son, Doug Arnold of Falconer; two brothers: Frank (Audrey) Wicks of Randolph, and John Wicks of Sparrow Bush, N.Y.; a sister, Celia Bolyard of Madison, Wis.; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Arnold, whom she married June 30, 1950, in Smethport, Pa., and who died April 4, 2000; her twin brother, Albert Wicks and brothers: Julian Wicks and Zeno Wicks

A memorial service will be held in the First Baptist Church of Falconer on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 11 a.m., where Pastor Robert D. Lewis, will officiate.

Memorials may be donated to First Baptist Church of Falconer, 37 W. Falconer St., Falconer, NY 14733 or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
