Shingles Vaccine Set For June 23
MAYVILLE - Johnson's Village Pharmacy, 99 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville, is sponsoring a Zostavax (Shingles) vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23. Recently the age guidelines have been lowered, and patients can now be age 50 and over to receive the vaccine. A registered nurse will be on hand to administer the immunizations, and appointments must be made in advance. Many insurance plans will cover the vaccine, including Medicare D plans. The price without insurance is $225. Anyone interested should call the pharmacy at 753-3200. Those who have had chicken pox are more susceptible to getting the shingles virus, and the immunization may reduce the incidence and severity of shingles outbreaks.
