The clinic is sponsored by the Chautauqua County Health Dept. in cooperation with the Chautauqua County Veterinary Society. All animals must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs must be on a leash and cats are to be brought in a container such as a kennel, box or duffel bag. Pet owners should know the age and breed of the animal and the name of the town where they live. Certificates will be provided to the town clerk. Pet owners should bring only healthy animals and a previous rabies vaccination record if their pet has had a previous vaccination. Shingles Vaccine Set For June 23
MAYVILLE - Johnson's Village Pharmacy, 99 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville, is sponsoring a Zostavax (Shingles) vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23. Recently the age guidelines have been lowered, and patients can now be age 50 and over to receive the vaccine. A registered nurse will be on hand to administer the immunizations, and appointments must be made in advance. Many insurance plans will cover the vaccine, including Medicare D plans. The price without insurance is $225. Anyone interested should call the pharmacy at 753-3200. Those who have had chicken pox are more susceptible to getting the shingles virus, and the immunization may reduce the incidence and severity of shingles outbreaks. The pharmacy will contact your doctor and insurance to check coverage, so advance planning is needed.
