James R. and Helen Burlett celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 12, 2012, with an open house at their Dunkirk home. The celebration was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Roger Cooley, their grandsons, Jordan and Alex, and Paula Cooley, all of Dunkirk.
Burlett and the former Helen Waite were married in 1962 at Chaute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Ill. Friar Maris Di Lella, OFM performed the ceremony.
Burlett, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired from Liftech Handling Co. in the Buffalo area. Mrs. Burlett has been employed in substitute teaching and by Occupational Therapy and Hand Rehabilitation Services in Dunkirk.
