PANAMA - Taylor Lloyd of second-seeded Panama recorded a five-inning no-hitter in the Section 6 Class D softball quarterfinals on Thursday.
Lloyd held No. 7 Sherman hitless while striking out nine and walking six in an 18-0 win in a game that lasted 4 innings.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Panthers scored fiveruns in second, 11 more in the third and two in the fourth to win easily.
Jessica Leonard had three hits while Carly Abbate and Kaylee Sheldon had two hits for Panama.
Sheldon drove in three runs with a RBI double and a two-run single while Abbate smacked a two-run triple among her hits.
Andrea Marsh cleared the bases with a three-run triple, Green unloaded a two-run home run and Lloyd helped her cause with a double for the winners.
Panama hosts the winner of today's game between No. 6 Brocton and No. 3 North Collins in the semifinals on Wednesday.
STEGER PITCHES WIN
RIPLEY - Emilee Steger fanned 12, walked four and allowed eight hits while driving in three runs with a double and a triple as No. 4 Ripley dropped No. 5 Clymer, 14-4.
The big inning for Ripley was the third when it scored six times. Steger hit a two-run double and Rylee Hawkins drove in another with a double to highlight the uprising.
Clymer had a double by Jo-Linda Rhodes and seven other players had singles.
The Lady Pirates scored all their runs in the fifth inning.
