Four fire departments responded to a house fire in Sugar Grove late Monday night.

According to Sugar Grove Fire Chief Gene Falconer, smoke was bellowing out of the roof and some of the windows of the house when firefighters arrived. The fire required the services of the Youngsville, Lander, Busti and Sugar Grove Fire Departments, with North Warren fire department on stand-by.

The Sugar Grove fire department was the first to respond, arriving at the fire around 7:30 p.m.

According to house owner Brenda Colbertson, she had left the house five minutes earlier to run an errand when her grandson, who lives next door, called her and told her the house was on fire. Colbertson is unsure what could have caused the fire.

The house was empty when the fire began and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
