Library To Host Organic Class

ASHVILLE - The Ashville Free Library will host a class on organic gardening led by Marge Vollmer at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Topics to be discussed will include soil fertility, weed management, lasagna gardening, pest management and seed selection. The library is located at 2200 N. Maple St., Ashville. Catt. County To Hold Boat Class

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office will hold state boater's safety courses from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Salamanca High School, 50 Iroquios Drive, Salamanca, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10, in the South Valley Town Hall, Sawmill Run Road, Onoville. Those attending must attend both days of class. Persons between the ages of 10 and 18 must have attended a boater safety course in order to operate a boat while those ages 14 and above must attend a class to to operate a personal watercraft in New York state. As of 2004, anyone who operates a personal watercraft in New York state must have attended a satte-required eight-hour boater safety course. Library Board To Meet Wednesday

RANDOLPH - The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Randolph Library, 26 Jamestown St., Randolph, for a preplanning session.

Pine Valley Choir Performs Sunday

SOUTH DAYTON - The Pine Valley Community Choir will give the final presentation of its 25th annual Easter cantata, ''A Walk To Remember,'' at 4 pm. Sunday in the South Dayton Free Methodist Church. An offering will be taken.

Sewer Committee To Meet Tuesday

The South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts' technical committee will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Water Pollution Control Facility in Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.

Sherman To Hold Retirement Party

SHERMAN - Sherman Central School is inviting the community to say "thank you" to Thomas Schmidt, retiring district superintendent, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Sherman Central School. The event is an open, casual and informal event. Schmidt is retiring after 39 years in education. The event is open to all community members, parents, grandparents, alumni, students and faculty. Donations can be made to the Sherman PTO, with the purpose of Mr. Schmidt, to go toward a community gift or refreshment supplies and can be sent to Sherman PTO, P.O. Box 950, Sherman, NY 14781.

County Bridge Closes Monday

STOCKTON - Chautauqua County Bridge 801 on County Route 380 in Stockton between Fenner Road and Route 57, will be closed to all traffic starting Monday when the bridge is replaced. A detour will be posted.
