CHAUTAUQUA - A Jamestown man faces charges following a two-vehicle accident in the town of Chautauqua on Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a personal-injury accident on Route 394 at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival it was determined that Andrew Stone, 33, of Broadhead Avenue, Jamestown, was traveling west on Route 394 when he missed the location at which he was supposed to arrive. After pulling over to the side of the road, Stone attempted to re-enter the road and pulled out in front of an Erie, Pa., woman. The cars collided and Stone as well as a passenger were taken to WCA Hospital for their injuries. Stone was charged with failure to yield the right of way and will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
CHARLOTTE - Three people face charges after an incident at the Town of Charlotte Highway barns Saturday.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a theft in progress at the site at 4:55 p.m. Highway workers received a tip that somebody was stealing scrap metal that had been brought in by local residents during spring cleanup. An employee and the highway superintendent confronted the individuals, holding them until deputies arrived. After an investigation, John A. Carpenter, 36, of 7320 North Hill Road, Sinclairville, and a 17-year-old male were charged with petit larceny. They will appear in Charlotte Town Court at a later date. It is alleged that a 15-year-old male was involved as well. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
ALLEGANY - Five juveniles were cited for underage possession of alcohol after Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies received an anonymous tip of an underage drinking party at 1755 Allegany St., in Allegany on April 28. Four males and one female were to appear in Allegany Town Court on May 7.
