Kennedy Pride To Host Victorian Tea

KENNEDY - Kennedy Pride will host a Victorian Tea on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kennedy United Methodist Church. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 through 12. Prizes will be awarded for the most unusual tea cup, and the most unique hat. A dress-up parade will be held for children. Tea sandwiches, flavored teas, punch, chicken salad, fruit salad and tea cookies will be available.

Valu Home Center To Host Benefit

LAKEWOOD - Valu Home Centers, 280 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, will host a Community Event Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The Affinity One Federal Credit Union Blue Jays baseball team will sell hot dogs and pop for a minimal donation. Other activities will be included as part of the fundraiser. Such events hosted throughout the Valu Home Centers chain in 2011 raised more than $21,000 for community causes. For more information, call the store at 763-9691.

Farmers Market To Begin In July

SOUTH DAYTON - The South Dayton Village Board will host a Saturday morning farmer's market starting in July and ending in the fall. The market will be held in the village square. Vendors are needed with fruits, vegetables, eggs, jams and baked goods. There will be no set-up charge. Farmers, gardeners, crafters and anyone interested can call Karen Strickland at 988-5076.

Historical Society To Tour Boat Center

BEMUS POINT - The Bemus Point Historical Society monthly meeting will be taking a field trip on Tuesday. The group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lawson Boating Heritage Center located at 73 Lakeside Drive in Bemus Point. The group will learn about an organization that believes in preserving, displaying and presenting as much of Chautauqua boating history as possible. The public is welcome to attend.

Breast Cancer Group?To Meet

The May meeting for the Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown will be Wednesday at Friendly's in Brooklyn Square. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. Linda Randall, supervisor occupational therapist at WCA Hospital, will speak about lymphedema treatment. The meeting is open to any cancer patient who has this condition and wants to learn more about it. The meeting will also be a start on the HELP Button up Breast Cancer event. Anyone with old buttons can bring them or call Pat Carr at 665-4343 and she will pick them up.

Charlotte Board To Meet Wednesday

SINCLAIRVILLE - The Charlotte Town Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the David Vern Luce Community Building, 8 Lester St., Sinclairville. The public is welcome to attend.

Social Security Workshop Is Friday

Chautauqua Works will host a free workshop for SSA beneficiaries from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 11, at Chautauqua Works, 23 E. Third St., Jamestown. The workshop will focus on how working affects SSA benefits. To register, call Chautauqua Works' disability resource coordinator at 487-5192.
