Armed Services Day Is Sunday

BUFFALO - The Chautauqua County American Legion Color Guard will take part in the opening ceremonies for the 52nd annual Western New York Armed Services day at 12:45 p.m. Sunday at the Naval and Military Park near Buffalo on the Erie Canal. The public is welcome to attend.

Blood Screening Set For Saturday

SHERMAN - The Olive Lodge will host a AMBA blood screening event at the Stanly Hose Company in Sherman on Saturday, from 6 to 10 a.m. To make an appointment, please call 1-800-234-8888 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A fee may be charged. Walk-ins are welcome.

Clymer School Board To Meet

CLYMER - A regular meeting of the Clymer Central School Board of Education will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library. There will be a presentation of the proposed 2012-13 budget followed by the regular board meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Pre-Licensing Test Being Offered

Aa Advance Driver Training will offer its first five-hour pre-licensing course Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 35 W. Fairmount Ave., in Lakewood. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The course is NYS DMV mandated for all new driving permit holders prior to signing up for a road test. Pre-registration for the class is strongly recommended, as DMV guidelines limit the number of student participants in that class, but walk-ins are welcome. Students can pre-register online at: www.DriverTrainingLLC.com, or by calling 777-3232 to reserve a seat.

Rural Life Event Set For Sunday

LAKEWOOD - Lakewood United Methodist Church will observe Rural Life Sunday at its 11 a.m. service this week. During the final week of April, special emphasis was given on the celebration of soil and water stewardship. The public is invited to attend the special service at the Lakewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Violet Davidson. At the end of the morning service, those attending will receive a seedling to be planted in their respective yards, and then the group will gather in the fellowship hall for a buffet luncheon. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. For more information, call Art Kinney, Pomona Grange chairman, at 326-7797.

Tea In The Park Set For Saturday

SINCLARIVILLE - Reservations are still being taken for the annual Victorian Tea in the Park United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday sponsored by the Sinclairville Free Library. Joni Blackman of the Fenton Historical Society will discuss "The Victorian Woman," a presentation that includes both artifacts and information on the daily life of women during the Victorian era. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Sinclairville Free Library at 962-5885.

Southwestern To Hold Fundraiser

Southwestern High School's Class of 2012 will hold a rummage sale/car wash Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school parking lot or cafeteria (weather permitting). Donations will be collected in the cafeteria today from 3 to 6 p.m.
